The Consell de Mallorca, through the Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca, held the Mallorca PID - Smart Destination Platform Launch Event at Hipotels Convention Centre Palma, by Hipotels - Hotels & Resorts, marking the beginning of a new stage in the destination's digital transformation.
The event brought together representatives of public administrations, technology companies, tourism businesses, universities and other agents from the island's tourism ecosystem to present the capabilities of Mallorca PID and show how tourism intelligence can contribute to more efficient, sustainable and data-driven management.
An institutional opening focused on the value of tourism intelligence
The institutional opening was led by Guillem Ginard, Councillor for Tourism at the Consell de Mallorca, and Enrique Martínez Marín, President of SEGITTUR, who highlighted the importance of tourism intelligence as a tool for addressing the present and future challenges of tourism, placing data and innovation at the service of planning and decision-making.
A practical demonstration of Mallorca PID's potential
The event began with a welcome from Asier Vitorica, coordinator of the Intelligence and Monitoring Unit at the Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca, who introduced the objectives of the meeting and presented a demonstration of the platform's analytical capabilities through a data-based use case.
The demonstration showed how Mallorca PID can integrate information from different sources and turn it into dashboards, indicators and decision-support tools for destination tourism management.
A project built on technological collaboration
During the technical session, Borja Torres Fuentes, head of the Mallorca PID PMO at Deloitte, shared the path followed to make the project a reality.
The T2C team then presented the platform's modules, capabilities and functionalities, showing how Mallorca PID integrates information from multiple sources to generate strategic knowledge about the destination. The cloud infrastructure underpinning the platform has been developed by Telefónica, ensuring a scalable, interoperable solution ready for future evolution.
The institutional closing was led by Tommy Ferragut, island director for Demand and Hospitality at the Consell de Mallorca and vice-president of the Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca, who highlighted the start of a new stage based on collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement of the platform.
Work sessions to keep building Mallorca PID
Beyond the technology presentation, the event encouraged active participation from all agents involved in the island's tourism development. After the presentations, attendees joined collaborative work sessions and a networking space where public administrations, companies, universities and sector professionals shared experiences, identified new needs and contributed proposals to continue driving the evolution of Mallorca PID.
A strategic project for the destination's future
Mallorca PID is a strategic technology infrastructure designed to promote a smarter, more sustainable and data-driven model of tourism management.
