The Smart Destination Platform (PID) is an initiative of the State Secretariat for Tourism that aims to foster the sustainable development of destinations in the Smart Tourism Destinations Network and the digital activation of the tourism ecosystem, positioning Spanish tourism as a benchmark not only in management but also in leadership in tourism innovation. This initiative is developed and managed by SEGITTUR and financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Component 14).
The Smart Destination Platform (PID) will connect all agents in the tourism ecosystem (destinations, companies, tourists, and residents). In addition, it will help destinations and their ecosystems address the major challenges of tourism today: sustainability, digitalization, personalization, operational efficiency, and strengthening the local fabric.
Its mission is to create a digital ecosystem for collaboration and tourism intelligence at the national level that promotes data and knowledge exchange, as well as the creation of innovative tourism services adapted to the needs of territories to improve sustainable destination management and boost competitiveness.
The PID consists of an open, modular, and scalable national technological infrastructure that provides digital services and technological tools to digitize services and integrate, relate, and combine public and private data to generate greater competitive intelligence and drive continuous innovation in destination tourism ecosystems.
